Helsinginseutu.fi is a joint region portal of the cities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The website Helsinginseutu.fi contains the joint services of Espoo, Helsinki, Kauniainen and Vantaa that are not tied to municipal borders as well as the decisions of the joint decision-making bodies of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.

It is administered at www.helsinginseutu.fi, www.helsingforsregionen.fi and www.helsinkiregion.fi.

The Helsinginseutu.fi concept is also comprised of websites that provide information about the Helsinki Metropolitan Area cities’ services in Easy to read and Sign language.

The Easy to read website contents are available in easy Finnish and Swedish at www.helsinginseutu.fi/selkokieli and www.helsingforsregionen.fi/lattlast.

The website in Sign language contains sign language videos in Finnish and Finland-Swedish Sign language. The website in Sign language can be found at www.helsinginseutu.fi/viittomakieli and www.helsingforsregionen.fi/teckensprak.


The region portal provides news about the joint issues of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen.  The news list on the home page gathers news feeds from the Helmet.fi service of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area’s city libraries and the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority’s website.

Structure and design fi the website

It is easy to search for information at Helsinginseutu.fi by using the search box, which can be found at the top of each page and which enables a search by word throughout the region portal website.

The requirements of accessibility are intended to be taken into account when designing the region portal. The website is responsive so it adapts to different devices. The text size can be enlarged and the text can be listened to by using the buttons at the top of the page.

The Easy to read website has the right to use the Easy to read logo conceded by the Finnish Centre for Easy to read, which ensures that the user interface and content of the website correspond with the Easy to read guidelines.

User safety and privacy policy

The Helsinginseutu.fi portal automatically collects some information about the visitors. Information is not collected for commercial purposes. Information will not be sold or otherwise disclosed to third parties.

The website uses cookies to administer the user session. Technical cookies do not collect or store personal information about the user. The website can also be used without cookies. However, in that case, some of the features do not work, such as enlarging the size of the text by using the buttons on the top of the page.

Visitor tracking
The website uses the Snoobi visitor tracking tool. Snoobi collects information about visitors by using a JavaScript code, which is installed on the website. This information is only available to website administrators.

Server statistics
The server log data is collected for statistical purposes. These data reveal, among other things, the visitor’s IP address, domain name, browser type and browser version, operating system, date and time of the visit, the URL address from which the visitor came to the Helsinginseutu.fi website and which pages the visitor has visited. This data is collected solely for statistical purposes.

Collected data is kept safe on the server of the company producing the managed services. This data can only be accessed by the persons administering the service in the City of Helsinki and in the companies administering the service. Development and editorial responsibility

The development of the region portal is guided by an editorial board, which is a representation of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area cities’ communications and information technology departments. The administration of the website and the editorial responsibility are the responsibilities of the webmasters of the Helsinki City Executive Office’s Communications division.

The aim is to keep the information provided by the website up-to-date. However, the accuracy, constancy and timeliness of the information cannot be guaranteed in all cases. The cities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area are not responsible for any damage or harm possibly caused by the use of the Helsinginseutu.fi website.

The Helsinginseutu.fi website also contains links to third party websites, such as those of Finland’s central government and non-profit organisations. The cities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area are not responsible for the content on the websites administered by third parties.
