Helsinki Metropolitan Area Advisory Board

The Helsinki Metropolitan Area Advisory Board is a cooperation body of the highest elected officials of the cities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Its activities are based on the Cooperation Agreement between the cities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area approved by the city councils of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen.

The Advisory Board endorses the Helsinki Metropolitan Area’s vision and strategy, deals with strategic alignments related to developing the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and monitors the implementation of the cooperation.

The Advisory Board is convened by the Chairperson 2 to 4 times annually according to need. The first meeting was held on 1 June 2004. The issues discussed in the Advisory Board meetings are prepared and presented by the mayors’ convention.

The Advisory Board approved a Common Vision and Strategy for the Helsinki Metropolitan Area in 2004.
