Social and health care services
The joint dental health emergency department of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen and Kirkkonummi handles urgent and sudden dental emergencies. The department is open in the evening, at weekends and on public holidays. Each respective municipality is responsible for providing its own daytime emergency services.
The cities in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and the municipality of Kirkkonummi have a joint unit for specialist dental care. The unit handles those basic health care patients who require specialist dental care and whose treatment does not require hospital facilities. The unit also serves as a training location for specialising dentists.
The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) offers high-level specialist medical care in all 23 of its hospitals throughout the province of Uusimaa.
