Summer timetables for Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen services
A wide variety of different events will be organised in the metropolitan area throughout the summer. The timetables for the Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen city services will also change for the summer.

Transportation
The Helsinki Region Transport buses, trams and commuter trains run according to summer timetables during the summer. The metro and Jouko neighbourhood routes will continue to use the winter timetables. As the summer timetables take effect, there will be changes in routes and frequency for some buses.
The HRT Central Railway Station service point will be open during the summer according to winter timetables: Mon – Thu: 7.30 am – 7 pm, Fri: 7.30 am – 5 pm and Sat: 10 am – 3 pm. The Itäkeskus service point is open Mon – Fri: 10 am – 5.15 pm.
Health Services
Health guidance telephone (09) 10023 will be available to provide medical advice to metropolitan residents around the clock during the entire summer. Healthcare instructions and information about the health services during the summertime can be obtained from this number.
Between 31 May and 25 June, the Helsinki Health Centres are open Monday to Friday between 8 am – 4 pm.
Between 28 June and 30 July, the health services will be centralised to 8 Health Centres. During this time, the health stations will mainly treat patients in need of urgent care and manage the necessary monitoring of long-term illnesses.
During summer, the following Espoo Health Centres will be open in Espoonlahti, Samaria, Leppävaara, Kilo, Puolarmetsä and Tapiola. The Health Centres will focus on providing urgent care. The Kivenlahti, Matinkylä and Kalajärvi Health Centres will be closed between 25 June and 15 August. During this time, the main Health Centres will provide service for residents. Between 31 May and 15 August, the Viherlaakso Health Centre services will be available at the Kilo Health Centre.
The following Vantaa Health Centres will be closed between 21 June and 15 August: Katriina, Koivukylä and Länsimäki. During the summer break, the services at the Katriina Health Centre will be transferred to the Myyrmäki Health Centre, the Koivukylä services to Korso and the Länsimäki services to Hakunila. Other Health Centres will be open throughout the summer. Generally, small dental clinics will be closed during the summer. The Nikinmäki Child Care Clinic will be closed during the summer.
The health services at Kauniainen (in Finnish) will run as normal throughout the summer, with the exception of vaccinations, which will not be available during July.
Libraries
The summer opening hours for the HelMet metropolitan area libraries will apply until 15 August. As a rule, the libraries will be open weekdays from 10 am to 8 pm and will be closed at the weekend. However, individual libraries may have different opening hours.
In Helsinki, most libraries will be open throughout the summer. The Kannelmäki, Kulosaari, Käpylä, Oulunkylä, Pikku Huopalahti, Ruoholahti and Sakarinmäki libraries will be partly closed during the summer. Library 10 will be open 7 days a week.
In Espoo, the following city libraries will be open throughout the summer: Entresse, Kalajärvi, Kirjasto Omena, Kivenlahti, Sello, Soukka and Tapiola. The Entresse library will be also open on Sat (10 am – 4 pm) and Sun (12 pm – 6 pm).
In Vantaa, the following libraries will be partly closed during the summer: Hiekkaharju, Hämeenkylä, Katriina Hospital patient library, Mikkola and Point library. In addition, library buses will take a summer break between 28 June and 1 August.
A summer tent will be set up on the Entresse library yard every morning together with the library staff and the young people visiting the library. The tent will be open Mon – Fri between 11 am to 7 pm until 29 July. The tent will provide games, acrobatics and community theatre. The Lastenmaa Children’s Section in Sello library will provide activity sessions free of charge during the school breaks, on weekdays between 2 pm and 3 pm.
In Helsinki, the SummerBus will make the rounds around the city. The SummerBus is a joint effort by the City Library and the Helsinki Youth Department. The bus allows young people to visit, borrow books, movies and magazines. The SummerBus features an internet connection, information on summer activities and outdoor games equipment, such as balls and bats.
In Kauniainen, the City Library will be open during 31 May - 15 August on Mondays and Wednesdays (1 pm to 7 pm), Tuesdays and Thursdays (10 am to 4 pm) and Fridays (10 am to 3 pm). On Saturdays, the library will be closed.
The lobby and the magazine room will be open from 9 am and will close at the same time as the library.
Sports and outdoor activities
The metropolitan area outdoor expedition calendar (In Finnish and Swedish, PDF) includes information on the guided outdoor expeditions organised by Espoo, Helsinki, Kauniainen and Vantaa. Anyone can participate on the expeditions, regardless of the city. The trips will be free of charge, unless otherwise defined.

Helsinki provides a variety of guided exercise throughout the summer. The activities include, for example, the Fun Action event for the young and park exercise for adults and senior citizens. Guided exercise will also available for special groups.
Espoo provides a wide variety of exercise and outdoor activities. The events include, for example, park exercise, Frisbee golf as well as paddling and swimming for grown-ups. There will be activities for people of all ages. More information on exercise and activities can be found on the city's website.
Vantaa organises exercise events during June on the Kalmuuri field and on the yards around the Tikkurila and Myyrmäki swimming halls. Myyrmäki will also provide the chance to stretch in the park. During August, park exercise will be organised on the yards around the Martinlaakso and Tikkurila swimming halls. The daytime park exercises and stretching are free of charge. Guided Nordic walking sessions will be organised for senior citizens in Hakunila, Tikkurila, Myyrmäki and at Ankkalampi in Korso. In Kauniainen (in Finnish), an exercise track for running practice and walking is available in Kasavuori. The forest area around the exercise track will have a network of orienteering control points maintained by the orienteering club. The Kauniainen swimming hall will be closed between 25 June – 1 August.
Information on city services
The Helsinki Virka Info will provide information regarding the city and the city services. Virka Info is located at the general information point in the City Hall lower lobby and will be open weekdays between 9 am to 7 pm and on weekends between 11 am to 5 pm. Virka Info will be closed during the Midsummer weekend.
The Espoo Citizen’s Offices provide information on the city services as well as guidance and instructions on using the Espoo services. The Citizen’s Offices will have shorter opening hours between 21 June to 8 August. The Tapiola Citizen’s Office will be closed between 28 June and 1 August. All Citizen’s Offices will close on the day before Midsummer Eve, 24 June, at 3 pm and will remain closed on Midsummer Eve, 25 June.
The Vantaa Citizen’s Offices provide information and general guidance on the City of Vantaa services. The Myyrmäki and Tikkurila Citizen’s Offices will be open until 23 June on Monday - Thursday 8 from am to 6 pm and on Fridays from 8 am to 1 pm. Between 28 June - 6 August, the Citizen's Offices will be open on Monday - Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm and on Fridays from 8 am to 1 pm. The offices will close on the day before Midsummer Eve, 24 June, at 3 pm and will remain closed on Midsummer Eve, 25 June. The Korso Citizen’s Office will be open until 18 June on Monday - Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm and on Fridays from 8 am to 1 pm. The office will be closed during the summer between 21 June and 13 August.
The Kauniainen City Hall will be closed between 5 July and 1 August. During this time, the telephone switchboard will be closed and only direct numbers to city services will be available.
