Metropolitan area service survey to children in basic school and their guardians
Espoo, Helsinki, Kauniainen and Vantaa together conduct a service survey in November, targeted at eighth-graders in basic school and their guardians. The survey aims to analyze the present status of basic education in the metropolitan area as well as its development needs.
The survey consists of questions about assessing students' performances; functioning of student welfare; study materials; school's operating culture, methods and learning environment; as well as cooperation between home and school. The survey also examines the respondents' views about school safety, fairness, and bullying.
Results of the survey will be utilized in both the metropolitan area education departments and in developing individual schools' instruction. Reports on city-specific results will be published on the websites of the education departments in question. The survey is based on quality criteria for basic education specified by the Finnish National Board of Education. FCG Oy conducts the survey.
The aim is to continue the survey in such a way that next year it is given to fifth-graders and the year after to second-graders. In 2012, the survey is given to students in second year of upper secondary school.
The survey is accessible through each school's Wilma system.
