Brainstorming for World Design Capital on Saturday, May 22
World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 organizes an Ideas Forum on Saturday, May 22. During that day, brainstorming sessions are held in the participating cities, aimed at new ideas for tapping into the opportunities offered by the World Design Capital project.
Sessions in Helsinki are organized in conjunction with a bicycling festival in Mellunmäki, at the Arla sauna, and at the South Harbour’s Kanava Terminal in Katajanokka, where OpenHouseHelsinki and Helsinki Design Week lead a discussion on the terminal’s future.
Further sessions are held during the community day in the Malmi district, at Design District Helsinki’s Odd Day design bazaar in Diana Park, and in the space between the Museum of Finnish Architecture and Design Museum. Design agency Kokoro&Moi moderates a brainstorming session and a kite workshop at the Moko store in the Punavuori district.
You can participate in the brainstorming by joining the discussion or by submitting your idea in writing. Each session is attended by a World Design Capital guide, who records all ideas.
Special World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 teams are making rounds in the city, setting up spontaneous brainstorming sessions at busy places – such as bus stops and squares.
In addition to joining one of the brainstorming sessions, you can participate in the Ideas Forum by submitting your idea online on an “ideas card” at the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 website through May 31. You can review ideas submitted by others and develop them further.
The ideas gathered from the brainstorming sessions or through the Web will be used in the planning of the World Design Capital Helsinki project.
